Job duties: Serves as a laboratory expert in the conceptualization and development of innovative space structural technologies. Responsible for establishing technology requirements, initiating and monitoring in-house and contracted programs and experiments (if required), developing test plans, seeking technology transition opportunities, and pursuing external customer support. Acts as a subject matter expert consultant to lab managers, directorate managers, scientists, and engineers. Continually evaluates the research and development efforts of industry, universities, other government agencies, and foreign sources to keep abreast of the latest state-of-the-art technologies and to exchange technical information. Provides technical and programmatic presentations and papers to senior managers, program managers, and customers and attends technology working groups, seminars, and conferences.
