Job duties: As Project Engineer for the Resident Office, performs both field and office engineering or architectural functions on construction projects that include dormitories, dining halls, maintenance shops, test facilities, sewage treatment plants, classrooms, utilities, medical facilities, etc. Prepares the civil, electrical, mechanical or architectural portions of government estimates, reviews contractor's proposals and negotiates changes and modifications in the electrical and mechanical features. Investigates a variety of problems which the contractor experience in construction such as interference between mechanization and other specialization's or other modifications in the original design which the contractor feels are necessary or desirable. Coordinate with the designer and contractor in making design changes. Reviews shop drawings, schedules, civil, electrical, mechanical or architectural layouts, etc., to ensure that changes are in compliance with contractor's specifications.
